My name is Anielka (pronounced Ahh-Knee-Elk-uhh) Cortes, but most people end up calling me Anie. I am 21 years old and I’m currently attending Florida International University pursuing a dual-degree in public relations and international relations (which, contrary to popular misunderstanding, are not the same) and a minor in marketing. I’m a very ambitious and versatile individual who likes learning and understanding all aspects of not only my fields, but also others as well. I, one day, plan on having my own public relations firm and global non-profit organization and I understand that in order to do that I’ve got to start somewhere.
This is one of the reasons why I have remained so actively involved on campus and off. If there is one thing I have learned and have begun to master it is the art of networking and making connections, something that has already benefitted me plenty. I’ve also had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people because of this.
I work on campus for Project Panther LIFE, I work as an Academic Mentor for the students with disabilities and I absolutely love my job! I am also an e-board member for Delta Epsilon Iota, an Academic Honors Society; Rotaract Club, a service club and Most Valuable Panthers (MVP), a newly developed club at FIU that I helped start-up. Aside from that, I am also a member of UNICEF and American Marketing Association (AMA). I have recently been accepted to participate in Roaring Concepts a marketing internship project with AMA which I am very excited about!
As you can tell, I keep myself very busy with work and school because they’re some of the aspects of my life that I truly enjoy. I also like to explore South Florida, spend time with my family and friends, hangout with my dog and play sports and do other outdoor activities among other things!
I hope this has helped in giving you a better understanding of who I am and what I do!
